Privacy policy
Historyforkids! is very conscious of the need for
extra privacy precautions in a site where many children visit. We therefore
do not collect any personal information about anyone who visits the
site. Our site statistics software does tell us where people found our
site from (mainly Google or Yahooligans!), and which pages were most
popular (Alexander
and Egypt are always near the top,
also Socrates), and
what kind of browser you used (mainly Explorer, which I personally find
inexplicable, but there you are). This helps us to design a better site.
But we don't know your name or where you live or how old you are, and
we don't want to know. Our estimates of who visits the site are based
on the (extensive) fan mail we have received over the years, and on
the survey, which is limited to people over 13 years old, and also doesn't
collect names or addresses.
Our ad servers want us to post their policy too:
We have contracted with Fastclick ("Fastclick") to monitor certain pages of our website for the purpose of reporting website traffic, statistics, advertisement 'click-throughs', and/or other activities on our website. Where authorized by us, Fastclick may use cookies, web beacons, and/or other monitoring technologies to compile anonymous statistics about our website visitors. No personally identifiable information is collected by or transferred to Fastclick. For more information about how the information is collected and used by Fastclick, please see Fastclick's privacy policy at http://www.fastclick.com/co_privacy.html.
Google Adsense also wants us to let you know that they might use cookies or similar technology to serve you ads they hope you will find more appropriate or more interesting. Again, they will not collect any personally identifiable information. If you block cookies using the Preferences menu on your browser, that will not interfere with how Kidipede works in any way, so if you don't block cookies, we'll assume it's okay with you if our ad brokers use them.
