Troy VII

After the big earthquake destroyed Troy VI about 1250 BC, the same people rebuilt their city as Troy VII, on the ruins of Troy VI. This city - Troy VII - was the one that the Greeks would have attacked during the Trojan War.

Archaeologists disagree about what Troy VII was like. Some people think that Troy VII was a much smaller, poorer city than Troy VI. But recent excavations outside the walls of Troy VII seem to show that a lot of people were living outside the walls, and maybe Troy VII was a pretty big town after all.
